1991 R129 Central Locking Problem. Central locking has stopped working on my 500sl. When you activate the key, the lights flash on the door/boot but the locks do not operate. By the whirring from the vacuum pump suspect this is the problem. Have disconnected the battery and no luck.
4. Honda had a problem of "cold solder" joints in some of thier door lock and driver lights units. This can be fixed by removing the unit from the car and opening it up. Once open, redo all the solder points on all the relays in the unit. If this is the cause, this will resolve this and future problems for door lock clicking.
