I live in Asia where voltage is 220v and I needed a 1000w transformer to operate the IP. It’s a bit of an inconvenience to use this hulk of a power supply (almost the size of a shoebox) but for what the IP can do, it’s worth it. Anything with pumps and/or electronics will need a converter. I owned a 110V GS3 and converted it to 220v - replaced the heaters, the solenoid coils, the motor pump and rewired the CPU card for 220v. Pretty expensive at a tad under 1K. Took about 2-3 hours of work to completely tear the machine down and rebuild it.
A dryer plug is different. Sure you could cut the cord off your tool but you dont even want a new 4 wire dryer plug. You dont need a neutral to your 220v outlet. You can even convert an old 110v outlet to 220 just by moving the neutral to a breaker and putting in a 220v receptacle. As long as you do the same to any other rec. on the sameAs a single-phase supply, it is less efficient and consistent. As this requires three live lines, the amount of wiring in the circuit is more, but their diameters are smaller. 220V wires are of thicker diameter to carry the same amount of power, but the circuit has less wiring. 208V vs 220V.
